New York: Year’s last Grand Slam, the US Open kickstarts on August 26, and the organisers have decided to induct one of event’s living legends, Monica Seles, into the tournament's Court of Champions before the women's final on September 8.
Seles, who overcame am on-court attack to make a successful return to Tennis, suffered from eating disorder during her career. Her binge eating made her look anything but an athlete. However, post retirement, the former world number one lost 37 pounds to come out fitter and lot beautiful.
A winner of 9 Grand Slams, Seles won the US Open twice, and entered Tennis’ international Hall of Fame in 2009.
Known for her two-tone grunts and two-handed swings, Seles spent 175 weeks at the top of WTA ratings, and won consecutive US Open titles in 1991 and 1992 before turning 20.
