Iqbal Mirchi was a ‘chacha’ to Dawood Ibrahim’s daughters in London!
Mumbai: India's most wanted Dawood Ibrahim, who himself is ailing from cardiac disease and kidney ailment, consoled the family of his former close associate's family Iqbal Mohammad Memon aka Mirchi after his death.
Dawood Ibrahim is said to have asked one of his family members based in UK to go to Mirchi's last rites and also learnt to have spoken to Iqbal's family offering his condolences discreetly over a phone call which lasted for over a couple of minutes.
Though, Mirchi and Dawood parted ways as far as business is concerned, they continued to be in touch with each other during their Dubai visits.
As per Intelligence sources, it was a huge setback for Dawood as Mirchi was a chacha (uncle) for Dawood's daughters who are settled in London. It was Mirchi who allegedly got Dawood's daughter's settled in London. Right from purchasing residential properties to migrating them, Mirchi is believed to have also personally looked into all the party arrangements of Dawood's family.
Dawood also informed Mirchi in case his family required any sort of emergency assistance. As per Intelligence sources, all the unnamed businesses of Mirchi is likely to be taken over by Dawood's company while the white collar investments, restaurants and commercial properties shall continue to be owned and run by Mirchi's family in London.
Notably, the 61-year old close aide of Dawood Ibrahim, Iqbal Mirchi died of heart attack in London on Wednesday night. He was an accused in 1993 Mumbai serial blasts and wanted in India in multiple cases of murder and extortion. Mirchi reportedly left Mumbai in the early 1990s and had been on the run since then.
In 2011, the London police had arrested Iqbal Mirchi, but the international drug baron was soon out on bail. A red corner notice had been issued against him in 1994 by Interpol on Central Bureau of Investigation's request.
