Shah Rukh Khan’s Chennai Express creates history, grosses R 150 cr in a week
Shah Rukh Khan starrer Chennai Express is turning out to be the biggest Bollywood blockbuster. The film has now surpassed Ek Tha Tiger’s record and grossed Rs 150 crore in just one week. Chennai Express has shattered series of box office records including highest collections in previews, biggest 1st day opening and fastest to reach 100 crore club.
After breaking many box office records, market analyst are expecting Chennai Express to cross Rs 200 cr by next week.
The popularity of the film can be estimated from the fact that Ek Tha Tiger took 5 days to reach Rs. 100 cr, while other popular films including Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Bodyguard took a week to reach Rs. 100 crore.

ALL RECORDS SHATTERED!,” tweeted trade analyst Taran Adarsh, followed by another tweet, “#ChennaiExpress PP 6.75 cr, Fri 33.12 cr, Sat 28.05 cr, Sun 32.5 cr, Mon 12.62 cr, Tue 11.5 cr, Wed 12.56 cr, Thu 19.6 cr. Total: 156.7 cr.”
It will be interesting to see whether Chennai Express will be able to break the record of Aamir Khan’s 3 Idiots, which overall collected Rs. 202 cr at the domestic circuit.
