Google insults India, uses yellow for saffron in depicting tricolour
New Delhi: In a blunder, Google's Doodle while celebrating India's Independence Day on Thursday coloured its initial letters yellow instead of saffron, which remains at top on the tricolour.
Google, which celebrates global events with a signature doodle, created one on August 15 with paisley ribbons in the colours of the Indian tricolour. Except for a small problem — they used yellow instead of saffron generating howl of online protests.
Anusha Rao tweeted "Today's google doodle sucks! C'mon #google, you could do a lot with India's independence day and YOU KNOW IT!"
Shantanu tweeted, "Today's Google doodle makes it look like India is jaundiced. Instead of saffron, it's yellow!"
Google responded promptly and an updated doodle with the right colour was uploaded by the afternoon.
