Samsung Galaxy S3 might be priced at R 38,000
New Delhi: Samsung Galaxy S III will be launched in India in June at a price of Rs 38,000, media reports said on Monday.
An official word on the release date has yet to be announced by the company. The phone is up for pre-order in the UK at a price of 450 pounds, which is roughly equal to Rs 38,675.
The latest in the Galaxy S series sports a 4.8 HD Super AMOLED display, runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS and is powered by a quad core EXYNOS chip.
8.6mm thick & 133 grams heavy, the phone comes with an 8 MP rear camera and a 1.9 MP front camera.
The ‘Smart Stay’ feature of Samsung Galaxy S III uses the front-facing camera to detect if a user is looking at it, so it knows whether to keep the screen awake.
Another interesting feature the phone comes with is what Samsung calls 'Direct Call'. If you are messaging and want to call instead, it allows you to simply lift your phone to your ear- the phone dials your friend automatically.
The phone promises faster web browsing, seamless multi-tasking, supreme graphics qualilty and an instantly responsive UI on a larger screen.
“With the Galaxy S III, Samsung has maximized the consumer benefits by integrating superior hardware with enhanced smartphone usability,” said JK Shin, President and Head of IT & Mobile Communications Division at Samsung.
The Galaxy S III 3G version will be launched at the end of May, starting with Europe, whereas its 4G version will be available in North America, Japan, and Korea during this summer.
