Chandigarh/Panchkula: Union urban poverty alleviation and housing minister and the Haryana government are at the loggerheads over the issue of setting up of National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) at Panchkula with the minister alleging that the state government is hesitating in providing land for the top fashion institute.
Selja blamed the Haryana government of neglecting the establishment of NIFT in the state, saying the administration has been requested to provide land for the institute on several occasions but to no avail.
Speaking to reporters, during a press conference, Selja said the union government is ready to help the state administration to set up the reputed institute.
When asked that why development projects were being delayed in the state when the Congress was in command both in Haryana and at the center, she apparently shrugged off the responsibility, saying the union government finalises the policies, it is the responsibility of the state government to implement them.
Panchkula needs a medical college
Selja also underlined the need of a medical college in Panchkula, saying the union government is in touch with the Haryana government to set up medical college in the region.
“We are discussing the feasibility and practicability of setting up of modern medical college in Panchkula,” she told reporters.
