New Delhi: Though women are still fighting for reservation in Parliament, India has seen some of the most dynamic ladies in politics. From Indira Gandhi’s domination of the 70s and the 80s to Sonia Gandhi who is one of the most influential people of the contemporary world. Sushma Swaraj, Mayawati, Uma Bharti are all such names who have raised women’s status in Indian politics. Some of women leaders are even more intense politician than their men counter parts. Take Mamata Bannerjee for instance.
They might be ruling their fields nowadays; it was not that they have not worked hard to reach where they are. They have worked their hard out, day and night to make a mark in the patriarchal society. They have a common girl behind their persona. They have a past like any other girl in the country. They studied like normal girl, looked like a commoner girl next door. Some, however, were glamorous in looks though.
