Man held at IGI with jewellery worth R 40 lakh

New Delhi: Gold and diamond jewellery worth about Rs 40 lakh were seized from the possession of a person at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport on Sunday. 
 
A customs official said that one 36-year-old Nanik Ramchandani, an Indian residing in Singapore, was detained for allegedly trying to smuggle the jewellery into the country. 
 
He added that the man was being questioned by the customs authorities. "Ramchandani had allegedly skipped Red Channel (made to declare dutiable goods) at his arrival and went through Green Channel (made for non-dutiable goods).
