CBSE Board exam: Get latest information here

This year CBSE has introduced facilities to schools to generate online Roll no. wise List of Candidates appearing in Class X/XII examination 2013. School can also generate online Admit card for their regular student appearing in Board Examinations 2013. 

According to a press release issued by CBSE here today, Visually challenged candidates appearing for the Board’s Class X/XII exams will be permitted to use computer software for the examination. However, Candidate(s) shall be required to bring their computer with the enabled software to the examination centre with prior intimation to the Board. Candidate(s) using computer software would not be provided with amanuensis. Such candidates will be allotted examination centre only in the city where the Regional Office is situated; 

THe release says that Centre Superintendents will appoint a PGT (Computer Science) to act as Assistant Superintendent for such candidates who will  ensure that the candidate uses only the this software and not any other function of the computer. Concessions being extended by the Board to visually challenged candidates not using computer software would continue to be provided as usual.

Now the number of chances for Compartment for Class XII has been reduced to three from five. The number of attempts for Improvement of Performance for Class X has been reduced to one from five. The candidates shall appear for the Improvement of Performance attempt to be conducted by the Board in July/ School by July,  

However, for candidates who have appeared for the 2012 examination or before and placed in the category COMPARTMENT/ELIGIBLE FOR IMPROVEMENT OF PERFORMANCE shall get upto five chances. 

 

According to the release Introduction of Value Based Questions in all major subjects for classes X and XII has been up to 3-5 marks. The Board has decided to follow an interdisciplinary approach in value education where values are intermingled with the content of all the major subjects in classes IX and XII. The questions will be based on content and analysed on the basis of the values it reflects.  

Modified syllabus-2013 and SQP with Sample Questions based on values in the subject English (Elective), English (Core), English (Functional), Hindi (Elective), Hindi (Core), Mathematics, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Accountancy, History, Geography, Business Studies, Entrepreneurship and Economics to be used for Board Examination for Class XII, March 2013 are available in Circular No.Acad-47/2012. 

 

Similarly, Modified syllabus-2013, Design of assessment and sample questions including questions based on values in the subject Hindi (Course A and B), English (Communicative), English (Language and Literature), Mathematics, Science, Social Sciences and Sanskrit to be used for Summative Assessment-II/Board Examination Second Term- March 2013 Class X are available in Circular No.Acad-46/2012 and Circular No.Acad-64/2012 for class IX. 

Highlights of Class XII 

Ø Introduction of project work in the subject of Business Studies of 10 marks to be evaluated by external examiner. 

Ø Improvement of Performance permitted to all class XII candidates aspiring for JEE- even of 2011 examination whether appeared in 2012 in relaxation of Rule 44.1 (i) of the Examination Bye-laws. Improvement of performance / Up gradation of performance permitted in all the subjects in which the candidate has appeared in the previous year. 

Highlights of Class X 

Ø The Scheme of the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) for Class X 2013 examination: 

i) Scheme 1– there shall be no Board Examination at Secondary (Class X) level for students studying in the schools affiliated to the Board who do not wish to move out of the CBSE system after Class X. 

Question papers and Marking Scheme will be supplied by the Board and evaluation will be done by the schools.  

Ø For Scheme-1, schools are being advised to conduct examination           during the second half of March between 16.3.2013 to 31.3.2013. Schools have been given the facility to submit online date sheet to the board for conducting exams for students. They can generate online admit cards for students appearing in school based exams. 

ii) Scheme 2– students of Schools affiliated to the Board who wish to move out of the CBSE system after Class X (Pre-University, Vocational course, Change of Board etc.) are required to take the Board’s External Examination at Secondary (Class X) level.

Question papers and Marking Scheme will be prepared by the CBSE and evaluation will be carried out by the Board through External Examiners. 

Ø For Scheme-2, examination would commence from 1st March, 2013 and would conclude on 15th March, 2013. 

Ø In the Final Examination of term II, the question paper will be based on the Term-II and not on the complete syllabus of Class-X. The question papers for Class X would be as per Sample Paper. Content coverage for both types of question papers (Board/School Based) would be the same. 

Ø Under scheme 1, the Board has decided to send the question paper online for Classes IX and X for Summative Assessment-II through Integrated Test Management System (ITMS). Each school has to register school name with a user name and password and complete registration through CBSE website. 

Ø A uniform certificate will be issued to all the candidates by the Board, whether appearing under Scheme-II or Scheme-I. 

Collection of Evidence of Assessments under Scheme 1  

Ø The marks awarded under Scheme 1 are verified by the subject experts/moderators appointed and empanelled by the Board. This year, the board has also appointed certain City Coordinators in different cities to collect the Evidences of Assessment under Scheme 1. The verification exercise is conducted in the presence of board observers.   

Ø The Regional Offices of the Board will shortlist the schools to provide Evidence of Assessments (EAs) both for Class IX and Class X. The schools have been asked to send Evidence of Assessments in class IX and X of Formative (3 & 4) and Summative (2) Assessment. This would comprise of the performance of five students taken from each of the three categories i.e. top, middle and bottom levels of achievements in one subject; either in Class IX or X. In addition to scholastic assessment, the schools are also being asked to send evidences of co-scholastic assessment this time.  

Ø Introduction of OSM ‘On Screen Marking’ in Delhi for Class-X as a Pilot Project. This will help a great deal in the evaluation process and minimize the scope for errors.   

Ø Schools have been asked to upload total assessment of Class-IX Formative & Summative and Class-X Formative & Summative for which the downloadable software has been provided by the board.  

Ø The Board would be declaring the results of both types of candidates of Class X as usual in the month of May, 2013.   

Ø PROBLEM SOLVING ASSESSMENT was conducted on 16th February by the Board with the objectives of promoting problem solving skills, thinking skills and other life skills of the students. It is a compulsory test for all students of classes IX and XI studying in CBSE affiliated schools.  

PSA is designed to assess: 

a) Quantitative Reasoning 

b) Qualitative Reasoning and

c) Language Conventions 

CBSE TELE COUNSELLING First phase  

It is offered by trained Principals and counselors from within CBSE affiliated schools located in and outside India. It is a voluntary, free of cost service provided by the participants. 

This year 66 Principals, trained counselors from CBSE affiliated government and private schools and few psychologist will participate in Tele-Counseling and private schools and few psychological problems of the students. 56 of them are available in India while 10 are located in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, UAE, Nepal, Kuwait, Sultanate of Oman and Tokyo. 

Centralized Toll Free Access in India 

Students can dial a toll free number 1800 11 8004 from any part of the country which will give centralized access to CBSE helpline.  While the general queries will be answered by the operators, students will be connected to the principals or counselors in case of exam related anxiety or stress. 

Counselling for Specially Abled Children 

For the fourth year CBSE has arranged to provide counseling to specially abled children to take care of the needs and anxiety of special children.  

QUESTION-ANSWER COLUMNS  

CBSE experts are also answering queries of students through weekly question answer columns published in national newspapers like The Hindustan Times, HT Horizon/Education, Amar Ujala and Malyalam Manorama during the month of February and regional papers.
