SRK’s Chennai Express beats Ranbir's YJHD, collects R 33.12 cr on Day 1
Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer Chennai Express might have got mixed reviews from the critics, but the film is breaking all records at the box office. Chennai Express earned Rs 6.75 crore only in the paid previews.
Now, the film has become the biggest opener of Bollywood. Shah Rukh Khan’s film earned Rs 33.12 cr on the release day, breaking records of Dabangg and 3 Idiots.
“#ChennaiExpress Thu previews 6.75 cr, Fri 33.12 cr. Total: 39.87 cr nett. India biz only. All previous records shattered. Creates History!,” tweeted trade analyst Taran Adarsh.
Chennai Express is also breaking records at the international circuits. Taran tweeted, “#ChennaiExpress is on a record-smashing spree in UK as well. Collects £ 258,598 on Friday. HIGHEST opening day for a Hindi movie!,” followed by another tweet, “#ChennaiExpress takes a huge start in USA-Canada. Thursday night preview shows: $ 260,000. Final numbers yet to come in. Awesome!”
