HTC to make cheaper smartphones
The quarter phone results of HTC have not been very good. The company in a bid to grab a bigger market share and revive declared that it would make more affordable smartphones.
The company would make “more affordable smartphone[s] tailor-made to meet local demand in emerging markets”, announce the company in a results presentation this week.
The market of mid-ranged phone has been good, especially in developing economies. While in the phone segment in India affordable brands like the Micromax, Karbonn, and low cost phones from Samsung have been performing well, in tablet segment also affordable tablets ate registering good sales. The competition in lower-end phones especially Android phones is increasing.
According to a report by the firm IDC, Samsung and Apple are the top-selling phone brands across the world. HTC is not even in the top five smartphone makers of the world.
