Ahmedabad: During Friday’s raid on the premises of Sabarmati Central Jail by the Detection of Crime Branch (DCB), two mobiles were found abandoned in the Bada Chakkar area. The search was conducted by an ACP, eight inspectors, 31 sub-inspectors and over 230 other police personnel.

The cops of Special Operations Group (SOG), women’s wing, and city police’s Zone-1 joined the sleuths of DCB in a three-hour-long search of the entire premises.

The raid was conducted at the behest of Joint Commissioner AK Sharma and Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Shukla.

“It was revealed during the course of investigation that there are many people who are using many banned articles, and eventually a raid was planned,” a DCB source said.

“We have seized both the mobile phones and have sent it for forensic analysis,” assistant commissioner of police, DCB, KN Patel told reporters outside the prison. “A complaint had been filed in Ranip police station after the raid and the call analysis is awaited,” he added.
