History-sheeter booked for attempt to murder
Ahmedabad: Jamalpur’s cycle retailer and notorious criminal Salim Khan Pathan and six of his supporters have been detained for allegedly attacking a family on Saturday evening.
In his complaint to Gaekwad Haveli police, one Khurshid Ayyub Qureshi, a resident of Salvi ni pol near Jamalpur Pagathiya, claimed that Pathan, who also lives in the area, attacked him, his father Ayyub and sister Shahin. A few days back, Shahin had complained to her father about eve teasing by Pathan. Following this, Ayyub decided to meet Pathan at his office on Saturday evening and talk out the matter. However, Pathan got angry on seeing him and started abusing him.
Sensing danger, Ayyub ran towards his house. Pathan and his accomplices followed with sharp weapons and sticks. Those with him included Ajjukhan Pathan, Yusufkhan Pathan, Imran Babakhan Pathan, Farhan Khan, Muzaffar Khan and Anas Salim Pathan.
Ayyub locked himself in his house but the seven pushed their way in and attacked him. When Khurshid and Shahin tried to intervene, the accused thrashed them as well. According to Khurshid’s complaint to police, the accused also took away a gold chain, a computer and Rs5,000 cash.
After they left, locals called up police and sent the injured to V S Hospital. Based on the complaint, police registered a case of attempt to murder and loot against Pathan and his supporters. However, no one was arrested till late Sunday evening. Meanwhile on Sunday, Pathan also registered a cross complaint against Ayyub, Khurshid and his brother, Ayyub’s son-in-law and a cousin for attacking him with sharp weapons. Pathan also alleged that the family looted his gold chain and two mobile phones.
