Rail Budget disappointing, says Modi
Ahmedabad: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has termed the Railway Budget as disappointing for the state and said it will take the country in "reverse gear".
"This Railway Budget will take the country back into the last century. It will take development of the country in reverse gear," he said.
"This is a totally disappointing budget for a fast- developing state like Gujarat. It seems to have closed all gates of development for the state as there was no noteworthy announcement for the state," Modi said.
It is for the first time the UPA Government has admitted that the Railways is in a miserable economic condition, the Chief Minister said.
For at least the last seven years, they had continuously kept India in the dark about the deep mess that the network is in, he stated.
"The Railway Minister's announcement about setting up a coach factory in Kutch is in fact an eyewash. What the Railway plans is setting up a diesel engine spare parts unit there. Such units in the private sector are already in existence in plenty in and around Rajkot," Modi pointed out.
