Temples in Ahmedabad gear up for Diwali festivities

Ahmedabad: Prominent temples in the city have been gearing up for Diwali from Sunday and have arranged various religious functions for devotees. Diwali is the biggest festival of Hindus. In addition, Gujaratis will celebrate New Year on Wednesday, November 14.
 
Lakhs of devotees visit cities temples during Diwali. Temple authorities have made special arrangements for decoration of the temple, prayer and feast.
 
City’s Jagannath temple at Jamalpur conducted Kuber Bhandar Puja on Sunday on Dhanteras. Devotees offered prayer to silver bars and silver coins to get blessings of goddess Lakshmi and God Kuber Bhandari.
 
The Jagannath temple has also arranged Dipmala celebration on the day of Diwali. The authorities will light up the temple with diyas in the evening. On New Year’s day Rajbhog has been organised.
 
Authorities of Bhadrakali temple have also made arrangements to receive thousands of devotees. The temple will decorate the idol of Goddess Bhadrakali in different ways each day. The temple performs a Brahm Aarti once in the year in the early morning at 4.30 am on New Year’s day.
 
Iskcon temple and Kalyan Pushit Haveli have also made preparations for the festival. Hare Krishna temple on Science City road will make a 1,000 kg vegetarian cake on New Year’s day. Its president, Swami Jaganmohan Krishna Dasa said, the temple will perform Govardhan Puja on New Year’s day.
