Airport or railway station? LTT surprises all
Mumbai: The renovation work of Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) is complete. It took over Rs 24 crore for the railways to convert the obsolete LTT into a world-class terminus. The Central Railway (CR) is promoting the refurbished terminus as railway’s ‘airport’.
The new terminus has exorbitant space, built over 50,000 sq meter land, with a glass façade that encloses a massive 3,300 sq m concourse area.
The inside portion of the terminus features mural built by JJ School of Arts with an impressive recreation of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST).
The station complex has two mezzanine levels having food court at one end and dormitories for passengers, retiring rooms and a VIP room on the other end.
The ‘airport’ will be inaugurated formally on December 1 by Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan.
