Court summons Poonam Pandey for ‘semi-nude’ photos with Lord Vishnu
Bangalore/Mumbai: A local Bangalore court on Wednesday ordered that summons be issued to Mumbai-based model Poonam Pandey after it admitted a private complaint accusing her of hurting religious sentiments by posing semi-nude holding a photograph of Lord Vishnu with the face of Sachin Tendulkar which was uploaded on YouTube.
The sixth Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Churi Khan directed her to appear on February 26 next year. Advocate S Umesh in his complaint filed in May said Poonam had made a statement last year that she would pose nude along with Indian cricketers if India won the World Cup against Pakistan.
And when India won the cup in April 2011, she had reportedly posed semi-nude with the photograph to cheer the winning team and later uploaded it on YouTube. Poonam was hurt and annoyed when she expressed her distress on Twitter. She tweeted that though she appreciated the love of her fans towards her, but she was very hurt by those morphed pictures.
She had also posted a nude picture of her on twitter to celebrate the Kolkata Knight Riders' win against Chennai Super Kings at the IPL season five finale.
The 21-year-old had first made news when she wanted to pose nude after India's World Cup win. (with PTI inputs)
