Changing times? Five Shiv Sena ‘goons’ arrested in Mumbai
Mumbai: The Mumbai police have arrested five Shiv Sainiks including two shakha pramukhs of the party’s Worli Koliwada shakha for launching an attack on civic body’s waste disposal vehicles parked outside the garage at Worli late on Monday.
The arrested persons are identified as Kesarkar, Gautam Mancharde, Santosh Belose, Sandeep Warkade and Deepak Saaple. They are residents of Worli and Lower Parel. The accused, booked for rioting and damaging public property, will be presented in court on Wednesday.
Although the cops officially did not reveal the true intent of their attack, it is believed that Shiv Sainiks were angry over the impending demolition of Bal Thackeray’s makeshift memorial at Shivaji Park.
“We are investigating to see if someone sparked off rumours that vehicles parked at the civic body’s Worli office would be used for demolition,” said a senior officer.
