Jaipur: In a major development, the police have sent blood sample of slain liquor contractor Vijay Choudhary alias Birju contractor, one of the key accused in Dara Singh encounter case, for DNA testing.
Superintendent of Police Churu district Om Prakash said that in order to ascertain that the deceased person was indeed Vijay Choudhary, samples taken from the body during postmortem have been sent to forensic science laboratory for DNA testing.
Choudhary’s body was found near Bukhari village of Churu district on Thursday. Although, his son and brother had identified the body, the police are not willing to take any chance in the politically sensitive case of Dara Singh encounter involving some high profile persons as accused.
“We are trying to confirm Vijay’s identity scientifically as we don’t want to leave any scope for suspicion that he could be alive and the body identified as his might be a plant to fool his enemies,” another senior police officer said.
It seems that the police have taken the right step as SS Poonia the lawyer of Dara Singh’s wife Sushila Devi has already raised this demand.
