Mumbai: The temporary structure at Shivaji Park was built for Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray’s cremation has been grabbing the headlines recently.
Even after the municipal corporation’s notice to Shiv Sena requesting to remove temporary structure at Shivaji Park, the party chose to remain silent in this matter. However, as the notice did not give a deadline, they are still not urgently bound to respond to it.
The structure has become a place of pilgrimage with hundreds of people visiting it every day.
The Shiv Sena is silent about its stand on the memorial at Shivaji Park as it is not expecting any action from Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) in the near future.
Last week, the civic administration issued a notice to mayor Sunil Prabhu and Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut, urging them to remove the temporary structure and reply to the notice about its plan of action, claim media reports.
After issuing a warning, the BMC has become complacent, putting the ball in the state government’s court. The state government has initiated back channel talks with the Shiv Sena to break the stalemate over issue. Sources claim that the talks with the government were on in this matter.
