Vilasrao Deshmukh knew he was to die!
Mumbai: Union Minister and former Chief Minister of Maharashtra Vilasrao Deshmukh knew that he would not survive for long.
Deshmukh who was detected with cirrhosis of liver 15 months ago, which further aggravated into Hepatocellular Carcinoma (liver cancer), knew that chances of recovery was blink.
"He managed to keep his ailment a secret amongst the political and business circles only his close family members knew about it. Though somewhere around 6 months ago when Deshmukh allegedly made his Will (properties, lands, businesses etc evenly divided amongst sons and wife) through his trusted solicitors and also hushed on with the marriages of Riteish with Genelia D'Souza (which the family was initially against out cast marriages) and Dheeraj with Honey Bhagnani his close associates and partners did smell the rat," added an source known to Vilasrao.
"Generally known for his jolly and warmth nature Vilasrao looked pale and tired throughout Ritesh and Dheeraj's marriage. Especially during Dheeraj's wedding Vilasrao was not at all actively involved also left the reception quite early, which did create a buzz amongst the political circles," added an source.
Riteish the actor- son of Deshmukh also subtly reduced his public appearances and media interactions to avoid sudden questions about his father ailment.
"Vilasrao also reduced his public appearances, once when I bumped into him at an South Mumbai private hospital. Vilasrao in his witty way said in Marathi ' Matara zhalo aahe..routine check up la aalo aahe...pan ruling party majboot aahe (I am gone old, had come for an routine checkup nothing serious...Ruling party is strong enough pointing out at his health) laughed the former CM," added another source close to Deshmukh.
"It was well kept secrete till last fortnight when Deshmukh's was admitted at the Breach Candy hospital even then the family maintained that it was just a minor thing and Vilasrao would be discharged in a week but destiny had something else stored for this headstrong political leader of Maharashtra," concluded another source.
