Kohlapur Police sex scandal: Top cops shown the door
Kolhapur: Home minister RR Patil on Friday transferred Yashashvi Yadav, superintendent of police (SP), Kolhapur, for his negligence in duties in the wake of the alleged sex scandal in the women constables' training camp.
Two other officers, Deputy superintendent of police Vijay Parkale and police inspector Dnyaneshwar Munde, have been suspended.
More action is expected against officials and personnel once the probe report is submitted in the next couple of days. Assistant SP Maithilee Jha is conducting a probe in the case.
Patil has reiterated that only one girl has filed a complaint of rape and of the 71 upon whom the pregnancy test was performed, only two were found to be carrying. One of them is a victim and the other is married.
Although the home department claims that it is a one-off rape case, local politicians have alleged it to be a sex scandal in which more than 11 girls were exploited.
Suspension of two officers and transfer of an SP is believed to be the fallout of the primary report by the probing officers. Local politicians have claimed that senior officers are involved in the scandal.
