Bhopal: The CID arrested two persons from Bhopal on Thursday for their alleged involvement in issuance of passport to suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operative who was shot dead by Gujarat Police in 2002.

The cops have revealed their identity as Subash Vyas alias Guru, 40, resident of Shajapur and passport agent Abu Bakr, 60, resident of Bhopal. The passport was issued to Pathan even though Shajapur police had raised objection in the inquiry report.

The Ahmedabad City Crime branch had killed Sameer Khan Pathan on October 22, 2002 claiming that he was planning to kill Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.

Further, the CID is looking for three other employees of regional passport office (RPO), Bhopal who had helped Pathan in obtaining passport in the name of Nawab Khan Haiyyatkhan Pathan. The cops believe Pathan used this passport to visit Pakistan on January 13 in 1998 where conspiracy to kill Narendra Modi was hatched.
