Full-grown tiger killed by poachers; 5 arrested
Bhopal: The forest department has arrested five poachers for allegedly killing by electrocuting a full-grown tiger near Dhauri village under Umaria forest division. The officials have also recovered the skin, nails and teeth of the tiger. According to forest department officials, three more poachers are still at large.
This is the fourth unnatural tiger death in 6 months in the state. The spot where the tiger was killed is about 40 kms from the Bandhavgarh tiger reserve.
RPS Baghel, an Umaria-based conservator of forests said that forest department staff were informed by grazers that crows and vultures were descending on a carcass near Dhaura village, about 15 kms from Shahdol district headquarters.
The staff then discovered the body of a male tiger, its skin that had been removed along with teeth and nails. Ram Singh, the main accused and four others have been arrested in connection with the incident.
