LIC RO’s office raided by CBI; 'disproportionate assets' seized
Bhopal: LIC regional officer (RO) Shiv Kumar’s office premises was raided by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday after a complaint of disproportionate assets was registered against him.
According to CBI, Shiv Kumar allegedly amassed property worth Rs 70 lakh which is145% more than his known sources of income. The CBI has also seized incriminating documents from his possession on Wednesday. The cops further revealed that the accused has made huge investments in properties which include two houses in Bhopal, plots at Khajuraho and Agra.
The CBI has also come across two bank lockers - one with the Central Bank of India, Gulmohar branch, Bhopal and other in Agra. The bank locker in Bhopal had around half kg gold, including ornaments and eight gold biscuits among registries of his properties.
A case was registered against him after the agency concluded its initial probe into the complaint filed against him for allegedly amassing wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The agency was probing Shiv Kumar's role as relationship officer between the LIC and different Banks between 2006-2012 following allegations that he received illegal favours from the banks.
The cops have registered case against him under section 13 (1) d and 13 (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
