Minister’s PA under scanner for RSS workers’ mysterious death

Bhopal: The personal assistant (PA) of a Madhya Pradesh minister is under the scanner over his suspected involvement in the death of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) worker Ramesh Chandra Pathak.

Pathak died on Monday evening, allegedly after consuming poison for reasons yet unknown.

Pathak reportedly visited the bungalow of Manohar Untwal, State Minister, Urban Administration and Development, on Monday morning. Accompanied by the minister’s PA Jitendra Shrivastav, Pathak then went to a bank near Bhopal Talkies where he purportedly consumed poison.

Shrivastav and his aides rushed Pathak to a hospital where he died.

Why Shrivastav is a suspect?

A note found in Pathak’s pocket, addressed to police, states that the deceased feared Shrivastav was a threat to his life. Dainik Bhaskar possesses a copy of this note.

While Pathak sent copies of the note to the superintendent of police and home minister, cops had not received the mail before Pathak’s death.

What Pathak’s family and Shrivastav say

When Dainik Bhaskar spoke to Pathak’s family, they vehemently said he could not have killed himself.

Pathak’s son Alok also said the family did not want to hand the note over to police as they feared foul play due to Shrivastav’s political influence

Shrivastav, however, maintains he has no involvement in Pathak’s death.

Speaking to Dainik Bhaskar, he said, “Pathak and I were at good terms. He was my tenant from 2002 to 2008 and had to pay me Rs 200,000 in outstanding rent. He had called me to the bank to repay the dues. However, he suddenly felt uneasy following which we rushed him to the hospital. There was no altercation between us.”

When asked why he did not attend Pathak’s cremation, Shrivastav said he had been busy with Ramnavmi pooja.”
