In MP, get ration card free with UID
Indore: People of the state have a reason to cheer as they are slated to get ration cards along with their Unique Identity Numbers (UID).
Though the Centre is working on the UIDs, the state government, on its level, has decided to give away the ration cards.
The UID project will begin in the state from Indore on Thursday. In the first phase, UIDs will be given to government employees and others are likely to begin getting it from March.
The ration cards for the people will be made on the basis of shops with prescribed rates in camps. The food department is yet to decide on the norms for the cards to be issued for the new holders.
The state government has entrusted the duty of making the UIDs and ration cards on the food department.
District food controller Harendra Singh told Dainik Bhaskar that all the department heads are being trained to ensure that people do not face problem in filling the forms.
Another important aspect of the UID and ration card distribution is that impressions of the eyeballs will also be taken along with the thumb prints of citizens.
