Indore: Sensation gripped Khajrana area where parts of a cow and a buffalo calf were found strewn along side the Ring Road on Saturday afternoon. Police are investigating whether the animals were butchered or whether parts were thrown after skinning already dead animals.
A large number of saffron activists gathered opposite Paliwal Service Centre where the animals' body parts were found lying on green belt between Mayur Hospital and Khajrana Square around 4 pm. Police reached the spot and took stock of the situation.
Indore Dharm Jagaran Pramukh Santosh Patidar, Dilip Chauhan, Yuva Morcha office secretary Ram Krishan Patidar and RSS workers Subhash Jain held discussion with police officials about the matter.
Mahesh Joshi, vice-president of Shvaji Mandal of BJP told DNA that it may be a handiwork of some anti-social elements to vitiate communal atmosphere on the eve of the Muharram.
Though the workers were adamant to stage a chakkajam at Ring Road , a senior BJP leader asked them to refrain from any such move and they relented. Police prepared a Panchnama and sent the parts to a veterinary hospital to ascertain whether the cow was recently butchered or died of ailment.
SP East OP Tripathi claimed that the parts may have been thrown by some cobblers inadvertently after taking out skin of the animals but the police are investing the matter. Khajrana police station in charge Dilraj Singh Baghel told DNA that a woman cobbler, resident of Chamar Mohalla in Khajrana area, had thrown the body parts of cow after taking out its skin.
