New Delhi: Bhutan's King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck was the Chief Guest at the 64th Republic Day Celebrations here on Saturday. The Oxford-educated 32-year-old Wangchuck - who came along with wife and Queen Jetsun Pema - became the third emperor from the tiny kingdom to grace the event, signifying the importance that India attaches to its neighbour.

This is their second visit to the country in the past two years.

The Royals are on a eight-day state visit to India.

Queen Pema, who did her schooling in Himachal Pradesh, was the cynosure of all eyes as she graced the occasion along with King.

The Royals were given a ceremonial reception at the Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi on their arrival.

Earlier in the day, the royals paid tributes at Rajghat, the memorial of Father of The Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. Wangchuck came to Rajpath along with President Pranab Mukherjee escorted by horse-mounted presidential bodyguards.
