Congress’ ‘Chintan Shivir’: Party to prepare declaration letter today
Jaipur: The Congress Party’s assessment session ‘Chintan Shivir’ entered its second day. The meeting phase of party-level groups has ended. The chiefs of all five groups will meet on Saturday and assess results of the deliberations in the function. It is likely that the declaration letter on the session would be prepared which would be formally tabled in AICC conference.
Meanwhile, on the first day of the ‘Chintan Shivir’, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi addressed party leaders. In the youth-centric speech, she addressed recent outburst of anger against the government in the Delhi gang-rape case, saying that party leaders should leave no stones unturned in ensuring safety of women in their constituency. She said that her party would set an agenda in this regard.
Talking of the achievements of the party, Sonia said that in the last 9 years of power, UPA Government had brought prosperity in the country and reinforced the economy. She admitted that the government also came face-to-face with challenges, which it accepted and won with the help of its loyal supporters.
She, however, expressed concerns over rift between party leaders on state level. She said that due to lack of team spirit in the leaders, the Party had to forgo chances that the countrymen wanted to give to the party. She said the infighting was the reason due to which the party had to sit in opposition benches in many states.
