Karnataka's new Cabinet minister's set to zoom in swanky cars
Bangalore: The newly inducted ministers in the Congress government are set to be beneficiaries of a BJP initiative to upgrade cars used by ministers in the state cabinet.
Ministers in the Congress government are all set to enter the Vidhana Soudha in their swanky new multi-utility vehicles (MUVs). The department of personnel and administrative reforms (DPAR) has purchased 20 Toyota Innovas at a cost of Rs 2.87 crore with each car costing over Rs 14 lakh. Chief minister Siddaramaiah has been given an SUV Toyota Fortuner worth nearly Rs 24 lakh, said a report in the TOI.
The process of purchasing the new cars was already underway even before the new government took over as it had been sanctioned by the previous Jagadish Shettar government.
The Toyota sedans and Innovas will replace the ones used by ministers in the previous government.
