BSF creates history: Women sentinels on guard kill Pak intruder
Chandigarh: For the first time in the history of BSF, women constables on Sunday shot dead a suspected Pakistani intruder at Indo-Pak border in Punjab.
According to PS Bains, DIG, BSF, women BSF personnel Aarti and Reena noticed movement at BP No. 42-17 near Dera Baba Nanak and challenged the intruder to surrender.
The intruder ignored the warning and tried to intimidate the security personnel, after which he was killed in exchange of fire, Bains said.
Bains said the BSF first started inducting women personnel in its rank in 2009 and so far no incidents of use of fire arms by the women guards have been reported. "This has made the country proud. Both of them (Aarti and Reena) will be felicitated for their contributions," he said.
