Coalgate: CBI raids offices of 2 firms for alleged ‘misrepresentation’
Jaipur: The CBI team raided offices of Green Infra and Kamal Steels in Jaipur for alleged misrepresentation of facts while applying for coal blocks. On Monday, teams of the investigating agency raided a company building at C-Scheme falling under the Vidhayakpuri police station.
In the unaudited balance sheet of Green Infra, a net worth of fifty five crores was shown, however, the actual net worth of the company was only sixteen crore rupees when it had applied for allocation, claims CBI.
The agency also filed charges under IPC and Prevention of Corruption Act against one Green Infrastructure Private Limited which has also a unit in the city. The company had an actual net worth of two lakh rupees only, however, it allegedly projected a net worth of Rs4,600 crore while applying for coal block allocation, sources from CBI revealed.
The CBI sleuths searched the offices premises of both companies throughout the day and seized documentary evidence and company records, officials said without revealing the nature of documents.
“When a case is registered it is a practice to seek documents from the companies to find out about the status of investments and deals that the companies have made. It is a normal procedure to conduct such searches,” said Dharini Mishra, CBI Spokesperson. Meanwhile Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered fresh cases against two companies for alleged forgery and cheating in connection with its probe into the coal block allocation scam.
The agency carried out search operation in 16 locations, including Delhi, Jaipur and Hyderabad. The federal agency has already registered seven FIRs in its probe into coal block allocation between 2006-2009. According to CBI official the agency has slapped charges of criminal conspiracy, cheating under IPC and relevant sections of Prevention of Corruption Act against Green Infrastructure Private Limited based in New Delhi and Satna-based Kamal Sponge Steel and Power Limited and their directors.
