Jaipur: The Rajasthan High Court directed the state government to produce an affidavit and clear the role of Gurjar leaders, other than Kirori Singh Bhainsla, named in contempt petition filed earlier by government. The government will now have to tell the court as to what role other Gurjar leaders played in the agitation for reservation against the court directions leading to a contempt of its orders.
The directions were issued by single bench of Justice Mahesh Chandra Sharma on the contempt petition filed earlier by state government.
After being summoned by the court, Colonel Kirori Singh Bhainsla was also present during the hearing.
Bhainsla’s lawyer Kamlakar Sharma informed the court that in the guise of implementing its order, state government was partial against Gurjars. Several bandhs were observed in state in which agitators even stopped trains. The government neither took any action against them nor did it file a contempt petition.
Advocate general of the state government GS Baphana said Col Bhainsla and 12 other Gurjar leaders are named in the contempt petition but no notice was issued. He asked HC to issue them a legal notice. On this, the court said before issuing notices the state government should inform it about the role of these leaders in contempt of court.
Apart from Bhainsla, other leaders, including Capt Harprasad, Capt Jagram Singh, Capt Atar Singh, Shivcharan, Bharat Singh, Lakhan Singh, Ramhari, Vijendra Singh, Udal Singh, Atroop Singh, Bhim Singh and Ashok Dhabai have been named in contempt petition.
