Jaipur: The year 2012 has brought some good news for the policemen. If everything goes right, cops deployed at police stations will be able to avail holidays as per government norms. Senior police officials have informed that the state government has in principal approved a proposal to deploy 60 jawans in each police station in urban areas while 45 jawans in rural police stations. The proposal will be sent to the state government in first week of January. At present, due to manpower crunch at police stations, cops have to work for more than 16 hours and as a result they become irritated.

Sources informed that a jawan is on patrol from 12 at night to morning 6. During the day, he takes care of law and order situation, escort duty, keeping stock of his beat, evening patrolling , keeping a watch on history-sheeters etc. and therefore do not get leaves.
