Manchester United, City heading for EPL title showdown

New Delhi: With the Rafael Benitez disaffect at murky Chelsea and continued indifference at Arsenal, the two Manchester clubs appear to be on the road for a straight shootout for the English Premier League(EPL) title.
After the aftermath of Manchester City’s 2-0 win at Wigan, Roberto Mancini has been asked for his assessment on the EPL title race.
Though, alike his rival manager Alex Ferguson, the Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini believes that Chelsea will fight back for the title race as the season is very long.
But, a Chelsea comeback seems far from reality as the Blues are already seven points adrift of the top and have gone six games without tasting victory.
With Chelsea fans and supporters all guns against the club’s interim manager, the Blues are yet to recover from Roberto’s Di Matteo’s shocking exit mid-season. It seems that owner Roman Abramovich may just have rolled the interim manager dice one too many times.
On the other hand, the two Manchester clubs are sitting happily with what appears to be a settled plan at boardroom level of both clubs.
The Manchester City fans will surely be happy with their manager who substituted Kolarov and Balotelli to ensure a win against Wigan at the DW stadium recently.
Roberto Mancini, during the post match interview, looked relieved and happy as he said that the club has four top strikers at their disposals to avert any failures.
During the last four months, the defending champions have come good despite playing poorly against Southampton, Fulham, West Brom and Swansea City.
The other club threatening Manchester City’s EPL title dreams is no surprise but their neighbors Manchester United. The Alex ferguson camp, one point better off City, are also yet to hit the stride. Before last night’s 1-0 win against West Ham United, they had conceded the opening goal in their last three games.
With the top two clubs scheduled to meet at Etihad stadium for the Manchester derby on December 9, it will surely be a glimpse of what is believed to be an ultimate shootout for the EPL title race.
