Ind vs Eng: Police demands R 70 lakh for security at Dharamsala
Dharamshala: With India vs England ODI series turning out to be a huge hit amongst the cricket fanatics, the authorities are trying to ensure adequate safety measures with the help of local police. But, it seems like Himachal Pradesh police is trying to take advantage of the situation after they demanded a staggering Rs 70 lakh for their services.
The Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association(HPCA) was shocked after the ‘security bill’ was handed over by the police ten days before the match.
The Himachal Pradesh police was subjected to provide security during the India vs England third ODI to be played in Dharamshala on January 27. But, with their security bill being extremely high, the HPCA is now planning to hire private security for the match.
According to TOI reports, the association members have held a meeting with the police over the issue and also tried to convince them to “withdraw the unfair demand.”
“Do the police demand security fee when a dignitary visits, say from England? The state government should consider itself lucky for getting the opportunity to host this international game in our small hill state,” said HPCA spokesperson Mohit Sood.
The HPCA has also raised the issue with the local administration, and if nothing happens in a week’s time, the governing body will be forced to hire private security.
