MI will begin their campaign against Royal Challengers in Bangalore on April 4. MI’s first home game is scheduled for April 9 against Delhi Daredevils after their second away game against former champions Chennai Super Kings on April 6.
Mumbai Indians players underwent a training session ahead of the IPL season beginning this week with captain Ricky Ponting having a feel of the team environment.
Ponting joined the team after arriving on Thursday night and was present at the training session at the Wankhede Stadium.
The 38-year-old, who retired from international cricket in December last, was seen chatting with team mentor Anil Kumble, chief coach John Wright and fielding coach Jonty Rhodes.

Reportedly, South paw- Ajrun will be opening MI's innings with Sachin as the team mentor Anil Kumble, chief coach John Wright and skipper Ricky Ponting were in favour of the left-right batting combination in the opening pair.
As per our exclusive report, the BCCI has agreed that mother Anjali Tendulkar can accompany teenage Arjun in the team's dressing room during matches. The decision was taken after Anjali wrote to the board expressing her concern about the safety of her son in the stadium.
