Sportsmanship: Wrestler lets boy with cerebral palsy win match
New Delhi: A video featuring a wrestling match between a two young boys has gone viral on social networking website, Facebook. The video features a wrestling fight between Justin Kievit and Jared Stevens. It has fetched over 87,000 shares, so far.
Jared is seventh grader with cerebral palsy. His opponent, Justin Kievit, met Jared for the first time.
Both the boys showed sportsman spirit and bravery as they got down on the mat.
Justin is a wrestler studying in the Middle school of Tennessee. He intentionally lost the fight to Jared as thunderous applause greeted him post his defeat.
Post his victory, Jared said that not many parents would put their children with cerebral palsy on the mat. His father explains that Jared has the physical ability of a six-month old and his intellectual ability is close to his age level.
However, despite the hindrance Jared has always tried to participate and make himself count. In the fight, Jared is said to have enjoyed his time.
Jared is a regular in school wrestling team practice session and takes part in it every single day.
On Jared's request his coach contacted a wrestling coach of another school and asked him to give him “the boy with the kindest heart"
The match saw both the boys doing the symbolic handshake, before Jared put his arm around Justin. He pins him down in a remarkable manner and finally wins his maiden bout.
