One Billion Rising: Women across the world raise their voice

World: Women from all across the world came down to the streets to raise their voice against violence against women. From Khartoum to Malaysia; from San Francisco to Mumbai performances were staged and protests were organised for better rights for women.

The movement spread like a fire all across the globe. The movement has found incredible support from people all across the globe, including British PM David Cameron.

"Too often violence against women & girls goes unpunished. We want this to change & we're taking action," he tweeted.

Women all across the world uploaded their YouTube video on the One Million Rising official website.

A flash mob in Green school, Bali, Indonesia left everyone enthralled. A sweet video of kids from Tainan, Taiwan won the hearts of millions.

People are still coming out on the streets to highlight the cause of women safety.

In India women came down on the streets across the length and breadth of the nation.

The movement received support from United Nations as well. The Office of the General Secretary of the United Nations, in unison with it’s unite to End Violence against Women Campaign, observe One Billion Rising at UN Headquarters in New York.

The following message was delivered by Deputy Secretary-General Jan Eliasson, "We will host an event at UN Headquarters on 14 February at 12.30 p.m. encouraging our staff to join forces and stand up to end violence against women. I will personally speak at this event and deliver the SG’s message."
