With 5 stories a day, China to get world's tallest tower in 3 months
New Delhi: China has always mesmerized with its humongous constructions. So be it, the Great Wall of China or its majestic display for the Opening ceremony of Olympics, China has always set benchmarks for the world to follow.
China is all set to embark on a new endeavour that would make the world sit up and take notice. The communist ruled China is building the tallest structure in the world. The structure would be completed in mere '90 days'. Yes you read it right- 90 days!!!
The construction is taking place at unprecedented pace with five stories getting completed in a single day to meet the deadline, according to news reports published in Russia Today.
The new tower will be 838-meter in height and is dubbed as Sky City. It is expected to house 17,400 people as well as a hotel, a hospital, several schools, offices and apartments. It will house 100 high speed elevators and is expected to withstand an earthquake of 9.0 magnitudes.
The construction company will employ prefabricated technique- blocks will be built off-site and then pieced together. The tower will come up in Hunan Province's capital Changsha.
The new tower will cost half as much as the Burj Khalifa and will be taller than 10 meters. The Khalifa tower took 5 years to complete and is presently the tallest structure in the world.
