New Delhi: The new 800 tapped conversations involving the lobbyist Ms Nira Radia in the 2G spectrum scam, which have been released now, have shown the lobbyist remarking Rajya Sabha MP and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi’s daughter Kanimozhi had threatened to commit suicide.

These new taped conversations are part of other tapped conversation which were released last month. The tapes contain conversations in which Radia says that the DMK chief was insistent that the telecom ministry, held by A Raja in the first term of the UPA, go to Raja again.

Kanimozhi had played an important role and stopped Dayanidhi Maran from becoming minister in union cabinet. She had threatened to commit suicide if the DMK supported Maran because Kanimozhi wanted A Raja into the UPA-II government as the minister for IT and communication.

She had even sacrificed her own chance of becoming a minister of state that was offered to her by the Congress, the Radia tapes reveal. It has been reveled in the 800 new tapped conversations involving the lobbyist, Ms Nira Radia in the 2G spectrum scam.

These conversations were part of officially sanctioned phone-taps.

Kanimozhi supported Raja

Tarun Das, a close aide of Sunil Mittal had informed Radia that A Raja was now in the union cabinet and he would do exactly we needed him to do.

Radia: He (Manmohan Singh) has given indication (to DMK) about A Raja.

When Das Tarun Das (former CII chief) says Raja is very unpopular, Radia responds: “That’s only with Sunil Mittal (of Airtel): it is better to have Raja in telecom. He will behave himself. Trust me, he will behave himself... I have promised, Raja has promised that he will speak to Mittal and deal with the matter. Leave that to me.”

Radia told Tarun Das about Kamal Nath that he is workaholic and he anyhow makes his 15 per cent commission. Ratan Tata was worried about Maran and he didn't want him to be the telecom minister. He is happy that Raja has become the choice.

Tarun Das (former CII chief)

Have you (Radia) written what you said earlier?

Till now: Vir Sanghvi had said he discussed with Radia just to collect information.

New Tapes: Sanghvi: I have written as you told me. It will create a perception among people for the natural resources (Gas)

Radia: Very good. Thanks, Vir.

Sanghvi: I have written in a way that it looks like a request to the PM, not as the dispute between Ambani brothers.

(Radia asked her associate to make some questions about Vir Sanghvi and said that Sanghvi wants to take interview of Mukesh Ambani and Ratan Tata. He will ask the questions what we want him to ask.)

Radia's conversation with her associate

Till now: NDTV's Barkha Dutt said Radia was just a source and she didn't talk to any Congress leader about Raja's possibility to become telecom minister.

On the DMK joining the UPA II cabinet, Radia tells Das that the Congress had issued a statement that the DMK would join the government. “Barkha (Dutt) ne karwalia (Barka has got it done),” she says in one of the tapes, without revealing the full name.

The first set of tapes contain lengthy conversations between the lobbyist and Barkha Dutt, NDTV Group Editor, over the DMK’s chances of joining the UPA government.

New tapes: Radia - Congress has thankfully made the statement. Barkha has managed it well. (After the announcement of the UPA-11 ministry)

Associate: Yeas, I have seen this, Manish Tewari has made the statement.
