Sitamarhi: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Shaheen Parveen has threatened to set herself on fire if the administration does not clean Lakshamana River before November 15.
The people of the region have been campaigning for the cleaning up of the river for last eight years. Parveen has also staged dharnas and protests to press for her demands. Talking to Bhaskar News, the RJD leader said people have to use the river in Chhath Puja and the filth around the river is unbearable.
The river should be cleaned before this Chhath Puja, Parveen added. She threatened to immolate herself if the river is not cleaned up up by November 15.
Chhath Puja will be celebrated later this month.
