New Delhi: Earlier this year, Ford had unveiled the EcoSport SUV at the Auto Expo in New Delhi, and the final roll out plan is indeed in place. Top sources in the company reveal that the SUV will be seen on Indian roads early next year, and plans for its production at the Chennai plant are well in place. With an invitation to the Chief Minister, J Jayalalithaa, Ford also mentioned that it will rectruit 1,200 new personnel across its centers at Chennai and Coimbatore, apart from the 5,200 people it already employs actively.
The production facility near Maraimalai Nagar, near Chennai happened to roll out the existing models of Ford Motor India, including the Figo, Classic, Endeavour, and the Fiesta. But due to the new vehicle EcoSport, the production facility might have to expand to include the vehicle in the production line. With competitors lile Mahindra crowding the market with their SUV's, Ford will also need to step up its marketing plans to compete with the others, as most brands will be well established by then.
