New Delhi: In yet another indication of the growing popularity of Samsung mobile devices among users in emerging markets such as India, the just-launched Galaxy S3 has decisively beaten competitors as the top choice of potential smartphone buyers.
In a poll conducted by Dailybhaskar.com that posed the question, 'which phone would you like to buy?', the third generation of Samsung’s line of Galaxy smarthphones notched 56 percent of the votes to emerge as the top choice for most readers.
Apple iPhone 4S, Nokia Lumia 800 and HTC One X followed the S3 at the second, third and fourth positions with 26 percent, 14 percent and 3 percent share of the votes, respectively.
While phones manufactured by Apple have more than met the approval of users and reviewers alike, the relatively high price and lack of range in terms of screen sizes, specifications and appearance seems to have prevented iPhones from gaining wider acceptance in the Indian markets.
Once the undisputed leader in the Indian feature phone segment, Nokia ended up entering late in the smartphone segment, which has now been almost completely taken over by Samsung and Apple products.
The Finnish handset maker is now betting big on its Lumia range, including the Lumia 800 and its successor Lumia 900, to gain a foothold in the smartphone market.
Meanwhile, Samsung has steadily climbed to the top of the smartphone market, thanks to its strategy of flooding the segment with a wide range of models to choose from while also maintaining consistency as far as specs, features and appearance are concerned.
