The Ferrari SP12 EC looks stunning and the pictures reveal that it’s a one off by the auto manufacturer. The car is said to be specially produced for Eric Clapton.
Ferrari claims that the super special car is based on the 458 Italia; the Ferrari SP12 EC incorporates styling cues from Clapton's favourite Ferrari, the 512 BB It is said that the guitarist owns three 512BB Ferraris already.
Ferrari played on the request from Clapton, which requested the auto-manufacturer to build something on the lines of 512BB but with modern underpinnings. Thus, the tailor-made car for Clapton still retains the same 570bhp, 4.5 liter V8 engine and a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
The car’s body is well styled and features a variation on the two-tone paint theme of the 512BB. The modified version of 512BB has a steep rise to its rear, has BB style door handles as well as the air intakes. The twist in the tale is the headlights from Enzo.
Ferrari’s ‘One-Off Programme’ has helped Eric Clapton materialize his dream of a Ferrari (Ferrari SP12EC) fully customized for him. The car has been designed by Centro Stile Ferrari in collaboration with Pininfarina and engineers from Maranello.
Ferrari remains tight-lipped about the cost of the car or how much has Clapton paid for his special car, but some experts have said that it costs around $4.75 million. That is quiet some price to realize you dream, isn’t it Eric Clapton?
