Chandigarh: With the nine-day Navratri celebrations starting from Tuesday, the Dandiya Mahotsav has begun in Sector 34. Led by Hina Patel, the event is being organized by Bhavnagar-based Om Shiv Sanstha. The 22-member team has performed over 1000 show in India and abroad.The Dandiya program will be held every evening from 6 pm to 11 pm at Chandigarh Haat.
Based in Chandigarh, the Gujarati women are set to present their famous "chaniya cholis" and dandiya attire during the dandiya mahotsav.It is note here that these attire are specially ordered from Gujarat as there are hardly any shop in Chandigarh that sell these ornaments and dresses.The special dress costs somewhere between Rs 500 to Rs 6,000.In Chandigarh, the Navratri celebrations will continue till October 23 at Gujarat Bhawan in Sector 24 between 8 pm to 10 pm including two "aartis" every day, one in the beginning and the other in the end. The Gujarat Bhavan will also have a special food stall for the visitors.
