New Delhi: The police have arrested two persons for allegedly gang-raping a 40-year old woman at knife point on Wednesday. The arrested men are identified as Gaffar and Alam while another accused is absconding.
The shocking incident comes within a week after a 23-year old girl was gang-raped in a moving bus on Sunday. The victim is still battling with her life in Safdarjung Hospital in the national capital. The police lodged a complaint after the medical examination confirmed rape.
In Wednesday’s gang-rape case, the 40-year old woman alleged that she was gang-raped by three men when she was alone at her home in Delhi’s Welcome area.
"The incident was reported from Delhi's Welcome area. The woman, who lives with her family, alleged that three of her neighbours raped her when she was alone at home Wednesday evening," said a police officer.
In the meanwhile, taking cognizance of Sunday gang-rape, the Delhi Government on Friday announced a slew of measures aimed at strengthening the policing system to prevent recurrences of shameful incidents in the national capital.
