New Delhi: Cyber crime has mounted to 51 percent in the country. Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra are the top three cities hit by cybercrime recorded under the new IT Act. While, these three cities provide 70 percent of the total revenue to the country through IT firms.
  
In the year 2013 Uttar Pradesh was counted as the fourth state to register 372 cases of cybercrime. In a year’s time the state has seen an 81.5 percent increase in such cases. Kerala stands fifth in the list with 349 cases of cyber crime registered in 2013.   
 
As per a recent report of NCRB, in 2013 Maharashtra reported 681 cybercrime cases that are believed to be the highest. It registered 44.6 percent increase comparatives for the year 2012. Andhra Pradesh also registered 635 cases in 2013 marking an increase of 48 percent compared to 2012. However, in 2013, in 2013, 513 cases were registered that was 24.5 percent more than cases registered in 2012. 
 
Tamil Nadu and Bihar did not record much cases of cybercrime. According to NCRB, Tamil Nadu registered 54 cases last year while Bihar registered 23 cases. Gujarat and Odisha registered 61 and 63 cases respectively in the year 2013. 
 
Cybercrime activities seem to be less active in the northeastern part of the country. In 2013, only one case each was registered in Nagaland and Mizoram. 
The capital has registered 131 cybercrime cases which an increase of 72.4 percent as compared to 2012. Whereas Lakshadweep, Dadar and Nagar Haveli remain untouched with cybercrime as no case was reported for the same in 2013.  
 
4356 cases were registered across the country in 2013 under the new IT Act that was a 51.5 percent increase in a year span.   
 
IT hub Bangalore tops the list of cities hit by cybercrime. It registered total 399 cases in 2013. However, Vishakhapatnam registered 173, Hyderabad 159 and Jaipur 110 cases. 40 cases were registered under the IT Act in Mumbai. IT city Pune registered 97, Kolkata 84 and in Chennai registered only 5 cases.
