New Delhi: A case of rape surfaced on Tuesday after a 14-year-old student alleged that her teacher had repeatedly raped over a period of four years. A medical examination confirmed sexual assault and the accused was arrested by the police.
A senior police officer stated that the victim’s parents approached the police after the 42-year-old accused Shailendra Singh, inadvertently said inappropriate things to her sister over the phone.
When she told her parents about the conversation, they questioned the victim, a class nine student who stays in the Ajmeri Gate area.
The victim broke down after her parents questioned her about the teacher’s intention. She told them that he had taken her to different north Delhi hotels over the last four years and sexually assaulted her.
The accused had allegedly warned the victim against telling anyone about the incident. He also threatened to leak ‘indecent’ pictures of her on the internet if she failed to comply.
The police took the victim for her medical examination that confirmed sexual assault. The accused was thereon arrested.
